Three of the best new games around are Rapala: We Fish, The Strike by Bass Pro Shops, and Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm.

Best Bass Fishing Game – Bass Pro Shops: The Strike

The Strike is a new, realistic fishing game from the folks over at Bass Pro Shops and one of the best bass fishing games on the market. The game features ten different lakes from different locations in North America in incredibly realistic detail. Lakebeds are built to include weeds, knocked over trees and rocks that players can either get stuck on or fish with skill to coax out hiding fish. There is also a large amount of fish and even larger variety of equipment at your disposal to help hunt down the biggest fish you can catch. There is even a fishing rod controller bundled wit the game to add to the experience that you are really casting into one of America’s top fishing holes.

The game has a career mode as well as a party mode. The career mode features tournaments, the Bass Pro Invitational, and also tracks statistics from you best casts to the biggest fish you’ve caught. The party mode comes with some fun multiplayer games to use when you have friends over, including boat racing and a casting challenge.

Best Kid’s Fishing Game – Rapala: We Fish

This is the newest installment in the popular Rapala-licensed fishing game franchise. Several older editions of the game have been disappointing, but this one promises to fix some of the errors of past incarnations of the game. In the Wii version, there are over 50 fish that are drawn comically expressive in the traditional Wii style of games. This makes the game a great party game it is supports up to four player multiplayer. The multiplayer even includes a Mario-kart style tournament where players compete head to head to grab powerups and other items.

The package comes with a rod and reel controller and is designed to be picked up and played immediately. All-in-all there are five different game modes from career to a co-op tournament, multiplayer split screen, and other fun games. There are even eight worldwide locations available for fishing and twenty four different tournaments you can participate in. If you want a fishing game for kids or for some party guests, this game promises to be a great choice.

Best Fishing Simulation – Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm

Deadliest Catch is based around the popular Discovery Channel show of the same name. This makes it a different kind of fishing game. Instead of fishing the world’s waterways for various different types of fish yourself, the game puts you in the cockpit of a boat attempting to cash in on Alaska’s King Crab harvest.

This makes the game more of a simulation than an action game. It requires thinking and planning to successfully bring in enough money each year to keep your crew happy and boat in top shape. The premise of the game is easy. You choose your ship, some of the ones featured in the show are included, outfit the ship with a crew and supplies and hit the high seas in search of crabs. Once you find them you drop your pots, wait two days and bring the pots back up. However, the devil is in the details. Correctly balancing the amount of supplies you need and keeping your crew happy and rested while catching the most crabs possible is just as hard in the game as it is in the TV show. Chance events pop up as well that throw a monkey wrench into even your best laid plans and force you to think quickly and improvise.

If you can’t get out on the water for real and still want to experience the thrill of catching a giant fish getting fishing games for pc, Wii, or another platform will help give you the excitement of fishing without having to be there. Where you’re looking for a kid’s fishing game, one that puts on in the seat of someone on the Pro Bass tour, or a hard core simulation, there is a game out there for you today. Get out and grab one today!
